Presto No. 5 Roller Jewel Inserter Tool Instructions – G. D. Gustafson

INTRODUCING the new PRESTO No. 5 Roller Jewel Inserter

The purpose of the Presto No. 5, Roller Jewel Inserter, is to provide the watchmaker with an efficient tool to hold the roller jewel securely in place while fitting in fork slot and roller table. It avoids using worn tweezers and losing several jewels while setting one.

Constructed by a watchmaker, it is practical in every detail. It picks up the jewel easily and locks it securely in place with the locking device. A light touch with the fourth finger releases the jewel after fitting. It is reversible; one side is for large size jewels and one for small sizes. Rounded-off edge indicates small-size jewel-holder.

Instructions how to use

Lay jewel on bench block with flat side up. Select the right end of jewel-holder and grasp over half of the length of the jewel. Jewel will easily find its location while closing with fingers. Then lock jewel in place by pressing yoke all the way in. After final fitting and when ready for cementing, release lock by pressing yoke upward on opposite side, with the fourth finger.

The primary purpose of this tool is for insertion of roller jewels. However, it has many other uses. It is excellent for inserting small pallet arbors in P. F. & A.’s. Flat side can be used for clamping and holding small parts, such as: staffs and pinions while fitting jewels and roller tables.

Made of finest tempered steel by craftsmen of the Presto Tools. It is a tool of highest precision and workmanship that any watchmaker cannot afford to be without. It will shortly pay for itself.
