Larcum Kendall ‘K1’ – Captain Cook’s historic chronometer watch at Greenwich

British  Horological Institute visited the workshops at the Old Royal Observatory, Greenwich to get a deep-dive look at this amazing watch while it was dismantled for conservation by Rory McEvoy. Larcum Kendall was commissioned to produce replicas of John Harrison’s ground-breaking H4 marine navigational watch. The watch used revolutionary technology, including tiny diamond escapement pallets, an interim re-winding device called a remontoire, and automatic temperature compensation.
